Academics

  • The academic portion of training includes book work, tests, writing assignments, reviews, skills tests, and field trips.

  • Expect critique, redirection, and feedback. It's sexual boot camp; your personal boundaries may be pushed.

  • You'll learn how to market your practice, guide clients, and build a network of colleagues and sexuality professionals.

Practicum

  • Successful completion of academic work allows students to participate in coaching sessions with a coach mentor and actual clients.

  • Once authorized by their mentor, interns see clients on their own, then discuss cases with supervisors.

  • Graduates are awarded the status of Certified Sex Coach and Certified Sex Educator, and qualify to register as Board-Certified Sexologists through ABS.

Training Website

The website makes it easy for students to submit their assignments, track their progress, do quizzes, watch videos, see upcoming events, and interact with instructors.

FAQs

HOW IS THIS sex coach training DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PROGRAMS?

This program is designed to stretch you in the best possible ways.

We don’t just give you information and send you on your way. Our training combines academic assignments, real-world experiences, and guided personal exploration to help you become a confident, skilled, and ethical coach. Expect to be challenged, but never overwhelmed. We don’t grade you on having the “right” answers—we’re here to help you think critically, communicate clearly, and step into your power as a coach and leader.

Other programs may teach you a method. At SXI, we teach you to develop your method. You’ll graduate not just with certification, but with a real coaching offer, real skills, real clients, and a support network that actually lasts.

How long is training?

The program includes 300+ hours of education and experience and can be completed in 6 to 12 months at your own pace. Most students finish within 12 months, but you’ll have up to 18 months total to complete the program. Extensions are available if needed.

WILL I BE ASKED TO DO ANYTHING THAT I'M NOT COMFORTABLE WITH?

You’ll never be forced to do anything that crosses your boundaries. That said, we do encourage you to explore your edge. Some assignments are designed to help you grow through self-inquiry, body awareness, or communication challenges. You’re always encouraged to speak up, modify assignments as needed, and move at your own pace. We believe consent-based growth is the most powerful kind.

Does the Program require any in-person experiences?

The entire program can be completed remotely—including your practicum, group calls, and final presentation. Some assignments involve field trips to local venues (like toy shops or adult events), but you’ll choose what makes sense for your location and comfort level.

is the program recognized nationally?

Yes. Our training program is institutionally accredited by the American College of Sexologists and recognized by the American Board of Sexology. Our certification is widely respected in the field of sexology and coaching. As with any professional certification, specific recognition may vary by organization—if that’s important to you, we recommend checking with them directly.

when can I enroll?

Enrollment is open for 3 cohorts each year. Applications are reviewed regularly, and students are accepted based on space and fit. Apply when you’re ready for the next cohort—we’re excited to learn more about you.

What Credentials Will I have after graduating?

You’ll be certified as a Sex Coach and Sex Educator, and will be eligible to register as a Board-Certified Sexologist with the American Board of Sexology. You’ll receive an official certificate (signed and sealed) and will be eligible to use the post-nominal designation “SXI” after your name—for example: Jane Smith, SXI.

How much do sex coaches make?

Rates vary widely depending on your niche, experience, and business model. Most coaches charge between $100 and $300 per session, though some SXI graduates charge up to $1,000/hour for specialized coaching packages. Your earning potential depends on how you position your offer, connect with your ideal clients, and build a business that works for you. We’ll teach you how.

May I SEE THE curriculum?

Yes! You can view a general overview of program here

is sexual contact required During Training?

Only if you want to—and only with someone of your choosing. We do not require any sexual contact with others to complete the program. However, students with partners are welcome to involve them in assignments. You’ll never be asked to interact sexually with clients, faculty, or staff.

Can I discuss the program with someone before applying?

Absolutely. You can book a 15-minute Discovery Call with our Executive Director, Shannon Burton, here. She’ll answer your questions and help you decide if this program is the right fit.
