Book Review: Lesbian Sex, 101 Lovemaking Positions

Lesbian Sex, 101 Lovemaking Positions, by Jude Schell

The authors inspires lovers to broaden one's sexual horizons with positions that sharpen emotional connection.

I've been researching books and articles for the Sexology Institute presentation of the Kama Sutra. I want to expand what we have been presenting to include more information for the LGBTQ community. I have welcomed many lesbian couples (and single women of various sexual orientations) to the workshops, and realized how many times I have needed to enhance the presentation content to include lovemaking positions that are also pleasurable for two women. I chose Lesbian Sex, 101 Lovemaking Positions.

The compact, hardcover book has 5-star photography. Every page I turn makes me feel like I'm right there in the room watching, or like I want to be there in the room participating! All of the positions look authentic and relatively easy to do. Nothing seemed "porny" or posed to me. I like how intimate the positions are---they are not just sexual and erotic, I can actually feel the emotional connection by seeing how the women caress each other. It reminds me of how much women really do love the foreplay aspect of sex.

From an educational perspective, I can see how almost all of the positions in the book can be incorporated into lovemaking for lesbians, gay couples, and bisexual couples. I can see how toys can be incorporated into the bedroom too. And since many couples have concerns about physical ability or weight issues, this book is not intimidating at all. Actually, because there seems to be such a focus on touch, the usual Kama Sutra "acrobatics" are not even present. This book is a good choice for sex educators to use a a tool when working individually with couples who are wanting to learn more about touch and emotional connection.
